The Tour of the Gila is proud to present a screening of THEREABOUTS COLOMBIA, a documentary film by Gus and Lachlan Morton, during our 31st edition of our race.

In order to secure the rights to screen the film, we have pledged to raise $1,000 for the Qhubeka Foundation.

Qhubeka is an Nguni word that means “to carry on”, “to progress”, “to move forward”.

Qhubeka is a foundation in Africa that helps people move forward and progress by giving bicycles in return for work done to improve communities, the environment or academic results. Having a bicycle changes lives by increasing the distance people can travel, what they can carry, where they can go and how fast they can get there.

WHEN: Friday, April 21, 2017 beginning at 6 pm
WHERE: Parotti Hall in downtown Silver City at Western New Mexico University.
WHAT: THEREABOUTS COLOMBIA screening followed by Q&A with Gus Morton hosted by our race announcer - Dave Towle.

Deadline for our fundraiser will be April 24, 2017. All funds will immediately be sent to Thereabouts for Qhubeka.

The Tour of the Gila has been a special race for many years, proud to have been the launching pad for many careers and continue to be for the up and coming stars of professional cycling. We are honored to screen this incredible documentary by our defending champion, Lachlan Morton, while highlighting the cycling culture of Colombia. We have hosted numerous Colombian teams and racers throughout the years and are excited to share this opportunity with the racers and spectators joining us next week in Silver City!

Thank you very much for your support!
