Help Gillian Come Home. Support Her Journey to Recovery

Gillian is the most determined, brave, resilient, and amazing woman we know. Over the last six months, she has faced unimaginable challenges and has been in the hospital since January of this year. It all began with severe back pain, and after many tests, it was discovered that she had aggressive tumours throughout her body. The cancer was so severe that some of the tumours broke her back in three places, requiring an emergency 9-hour life-saving surgery to remove the tumours and stabilise her spine.

While, thankfully, the initial surgery was successful, Gillian has had to endure three more agonising surgeries since. Her wound remains open and vulnerable to infection, and devastatingly she has lost the ability to use her legs. Amid her recovery from spinal surgery, she faced another challenge: she needed to get strong enough for chemotherapy to combat the rapidly spreading cancer. During this time, she also contracted sepsis, a severe infection that further drained her already exhausted body.

Despite these overwhelming obstacles, Gillian's strength and determination have shone through. She has bravely completed four rounds of chemotherapy and has two more to go. Gillian is a fighter who never gives up, and she dreams of the day she can return home to her loving husband and son.

However, before she can come home, her house needs to be adapted to accommodate her new needs. We are raising funds to help with the significant costs involved in making her home wheelchair accessible. These modifications are crucial for her to regain some independence and live comfortably at home.
