Gina Vasfailo's battle with Colorectal Cancer

This fundraising page is set up for my sister, Gina Vasfailo/Crisitello, a devoted mother, daughter, sister and friend.

My name is Victoria Crisitello and

I wanted to reach out to enlighten you on this unforseeable journey of life that my sister Gina is facing.

Recently, Gina was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer. It started in her colon and by the time we found out, it had spread to her liver. She immediately began treatments of chemotherapy, however after her 2nd round she ran into a huge set back. Her colon ruptured and she inevitably had to have her colon removed. She is now left with a colostomy bag; hopeful that it can be reversed later on down the road.

This brings us to the current situation. Gina is recovering from colectomy surgery while anxiously waiting to continue with many more rounds of chemotherapy. She has embarked on this long journey of treatments, including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and surgeries.

Gina's health struggles have forced her to put a hold on her career, invoking a financial strain on her family.

She has experienced an unanticipated increase in medical expenses that are rapidly arising. This has made it very challenging to live, however we need to keep one thing in mind—getting Gina back where she needs to be: cancer-free, healthy and with her family that loves her and needs her.

As you probably can assume, this fundraiser is very important to all of us.

We were reluctant to create this 'gofundme' because it is totally against the character of my sister to ask for help. She is and always has been a strong, independent girl that consistently gives of herself to others.

In addition to this medical burden, she now bears a financial weight and it is overwhelming. She found that in her time of need, she is struggling with the harsh reality of this financial toll which brings many unexpected expenses.

This is not just a plea for financial assistance but a call for empathy and understanding, prayers and strength when Gina needs it the most. Your support can lighten this burden, providing Gina and her son with a lifeline. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant impact. The love and generosity offered will allow her to focus on what truly matters—healing.
