Gina's Fight to a Cure

UPDATE: Hi everyone! We have reached our goal to helping mom out!
Thank you to everyone who has donated! If you’d like to donate to buy her a coffee or lunch feel free, but not necessary! Kind words and prayers are always accepted

Hi, my name is Bri. On behalf of myself and my family, I'm fundraising for my mom's pancreatic cancer medical bills, including medications, chemotherapy, and gas costs, to travel an hour and a half each way to treatments and doctor's appointments. Our mom is the light in our world and the one this world needs. She is the good when we've had a bad day. She's the voice of reason when we are lost. She is kind when others are not. She is love and light and good, and we need her.

My mom, Gina Boyd, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November 2016. In February of 2017, she had her pancreas removed. In May 2017, she was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. You may ask, how many people survive five years or more after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer? 11.5% of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer will live past the five-year mark. My mom is that 11.5%. The five-year relative survival rate for stage 4 pancreatic cancer patients is 3%. My mom is that 3%. She has undergone aggressive chemotherapy and has suffered from hair loss, weight loss, neuropathy, nausea, weakness, fatigue, and so much more.

To see someone you love suffer and fight because they love and want to be here for their family is truly inspiring. She endures enough trying to win this battle against cancer, but unfortunately, that is not her only battle. The costs of her treatments are outrageous, with some medications alone costing over $2,000 a bottle and chemotherapy treatments costing $8,000-$10,000 a session. Insurance does not cover all of her medical expenses. As the bills continue to grow, we humbly ask for any donations you can provide to help alleviate this stress from the already grueling pain she has to experience. I know we are all struggling financially in our economy, so if you cannot offer monetary donations, we understand and ask that you lift our mom in prayer.

Thank you for your time and willingness to help our beloved mom. We pray that we have her for many, many more years to come and that we can find a cure.

With love,
Bri and family
