Ginny Bayliss' London Marathon Challenge!
Donation protected
My name is Ginny Bayliss and I am running the London Marathon on 23rd April 2023 to raise money for two causes that are very close to my heart.
Firstly, I am raising money for Cancer Research UK. In August 2018, my mum was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, and three months later she sadly lost her life. I am running in memory not only for my mum but also for all my friends and family who have been affected by cancer in the hope that research will lead to better outcomes for future generations.
I am also raising money for the Playground Project at Eynsham Community Primary School. As Headteacher of the school, I am so proud of all the hard-working staff, children and the community that I work with. We are currently trying to make improvements to an area of our playground to give the children a better place to play at lunchtime and breaktimes. We are very limited with the hard-standing playground that we have and during the winter months, pupils do not have a large area to play in as we have to shut our field off. By developing this area, it will also allow out an outdoor space for a resource base that I have set up at my school where other children from different schools in Oxfordshire attend to access support for communication and interaction difficulties. Currently, they are unable to go outside for their provision and this will make a difference to the support we can provide the children in our Early Intervention Hub.
Any money raised from my marathon challenge will be split equally between the two causes and I would appreciate any donations. Having run one marathon before, I promised myself I would never ever do another one and currently I am really unsure whether my legs will be able to go 26 miles! However, I feel that the pain will be worth it if I can raise money for the above. Thank you so much for your support; it will keep me going during all the training over the next few months.
