Stop Parkinson's Disease Advance

Donation protected
Introduction

My friend Ginny Lloyd has had an interesting life with spiritual study, artistic pursuits and travel. Her life veered off course into a tangled direction and as one Parkinson’s friend puts it “the fun and games” ended when she was diagnosed with Parkinson's five years ago. So far she’s dealing with it independently but it is a daily struggle. The next ten years will be a challenge. Hopefully she can fend off the Parkinson's progression and not end up in a wheelchair and/or a nursing home.

Needs Your Help

For those who don’t know about Parkinson’s it is a severe neurological condition that is progressive in nature. Her gait and balance have been severely affected by this condition forcing her to use a walker to assist her mobility. After years of standard mat stretching and weight bearing exercise it is apparent that due to the severity of this neurological condition, my friend requires an advanced full body exercise program with high cadence motion without strain that can be performed safely and independently in the home. Her doctor has prescribed the Theracycle 200 forced cadence cycling equipment solution.

Hope On the Horizon

Her medical condition indicates a lifetime need for this exercise equipment. Researchers of clinical trials at the Cleveland Clinic are finding that cycling is helping patients stop the symptoms of Parkinson’s, and can even do something that medicine can’t do – slow down the progression of the disease.

Goal Considerations

Insurance considers the Theracycle to be exercise equipment so she has to purchase it on her income. Living with a fixed income, she is in need of your help to purchase the equipment at a cost of $5,000. We are asking additional help with paying for a custom ankle brace, dental work also not covered by insurance and work on making her home safer by setting our goal at $12,000.

Her Turn to Ask for Help

For 30 years she has helped many people: volunteer work with amputees at the VA Hospital, counseling victims of abuse at a crisis center, spiritual counseling, organizing art shows and events, teaching meditation, a mom to many pets, and many acts of kindness.

Any amount you can provide will help build the fund, and she is offering 4 step incentives.
