Help Gion recover from top surgery!

Hi, my name is Gion and I am a trans man who will be getting gender-affirming top surgery at the end of August. I have been on the waitlist for this surgery for a long time and am very excited to finally move forward! I'm very lucky to have the surgery covered through Medicaid but I have once again lost my main source of income last month and won’t be making any money before or after the surgery.

My surgeon recommends at least six weeks to recover from the surgery and two full weeks of not working at all. I have had a tumultuous summer in terms of employment and I won't have time to find another job before the surgery.

In my experience with my last surgery (appendicitis lol), it took me six weeks to feel sort of recovered but a full two months to feel like I had a full range of motion without pain and I anticipate the recovery from top surgery to be about the same.

I am trying to raise enough money to have a cushion for the six to eight weeks of recovery and for August. This money will go toward three months of rent, food, and home bills as well as renewing my driver’s license and getting my pickup truck new brakes which it desperately needs and which I have been unable to pay for this summer.

All this to say, anything will help! I am so lucky to be getting this surgery as quickly as I am and to have so many amazing, supportive friends and loved ones.
