Girl Guiding International Experience to Iceland.

Hi, my name is Katie , I am 14 years old I have been involved in Girl Guiding and Scouting since I was 5 1/2 years old. I am currently a Guide moving into Rangers this April and a Young Leader for Brownies. Through my weekly volunteering in Brownies I was offered the opportunity to attend a North East England selection camp for an international trip in the summer of 2025. I was lucky to be selected and will be joining a group of Guides from all over the NE on a trip to Iceland next summer.

I love being a Girl Guide and a Young Leader and I am fortunate to have a wonderful set of volunteers who provide experience. This trip will give me the opportunity to develop my own Girl Guiding experience now as a child and also a leader for the generations to come. It will be a fantastic challenge for me, as a once very shy child, to experience independence, grow in confidence, meet and spend time with other Girl Guides and to then use this experience to inspire others.

Part of the experience is to fundraise towards the trip which has a total cost of approximately £2000. I will be doing many things this coming year towards raising the money such a coffee mornings, selling homemade crafts, quiz nights, competitions and personal challenges, it will be a busy year.

I have had requests from friends and family to send them a go fund me page to donate to my funds. So I’ve decided to complete a physical challenge and a community challenge over the next year and would welcome any sponsorship via this page.

Physical Challenge- Iceland is 300km from North to South. I aim to complete 300km starting May 24 and finishing 31st May 25 on foot, pedal and paddle over land, water and machine. I will log my efforts via Strava and update on a specially created Facebook page, and of course on here

Community Challenge- Volunteering is important to me and gave me this opportunity. I am to complete 60 hours of volunteering before May 31st 2025 through Brownies, cricket and other community events.

I thank you in advance for any donations towards the brilliant opportunity I have been given through Girl Guiding. Any monies raised will be used towards the costs of the trip such as travel, accommodation and activities. If for some reason the trip doesn’t go ahead you will be refunded.
