Girls Leadership Tackles Learning Post-COVID
Tax deductible
The issues Girls Leadership was designed to address — declining levels in overall mental health and the impact of racial bias in the classroom and in society — are exacerbated in the COVID-19 crisis. The internal and external barriers to leadership girls face is growing exponentially under the combined pressures of social distancing, fear and isolation, and the profound emotional and financial stresses their families are enduring. We are seeing unprecedented demand from girls, their families, and their teachers for healing and support. We can’t go back to recreating the classroom and programs the way they were before.
Girls Leadership is partnering with the Barbie Dream Gap Project to bring the power of voice to all girls and #ClosetheDreamGap. Girls aren’t born with a dream gap, they are taught to see boys and men as inherently more “brilliant”. Girls Leadership is closing this gap by teaching the girls and their primary influencers, parents, caregivers, and teachers to create homes and classrooms that inspire every girl to reach for her dreams. Together Girls Leadership and Barbie are making sure that our schools are places where girls learn that they are leaders who can do absolutely anything.
These funds will provide educators with gender and culturally responsive professional development curriculum and training. This training ensures that right at the very moment of development where most girls start to learn gender bias, every teacher has the tools and support to address gender bias and teach our girls to connect with their power and potential.
We are working to partner with schools, teachers, and community program staff to build a future where girls practice the internal skills to head in the direction of their dreams and have the external support they need along the way.
Girls Leadership teaches girls to exercise the power of their voice through programs grounded in social-emotional learning. We provide programs for girls, workshops for families, and professional development training for teachers, guidance counselors, and nonprofit staff.
Girls Leadership centers gender and racial equity in our work to address the internal and external barriers to leadership development.
For every $2, we will reach another girl. Your donation will help us bring our programs to the communities that need it most and support their girls in realizing their power of voice. Hundreds of educators are on a waiting list, ready to put in the work and time to learn the culturally responsive and healing-centered approach to raise up the voice of girls.
Join us in creating a world where girls believe in endless possibilities. Your support will ensure that no educator is turned away due to lack of funds.
