I am a proud member of a community characterized by its unyielding generosity—a community of caregivers, where the spirit of giving thrives daily… that special community is being a nurse. Today, I ask you to lend your ear to a story of both resilience and compassion, a story about one of our respected colleagues, Giselle Ortiz.
Giselle's story is one woven with threads of compassion and dedication. Her journey towards nursing began in December 2010, a pivotal moment marking the beginning of her unwavering commitment to healing. Stepping into the role of a Registered Nurse in 2012, the same week as Nurses Week, a moment that seems to predict the greatness of her path.
Beginning as a float pool RN, Giselle navigated the diverse terrains of healthcare with grace and proficiency. From the hectic pace of the Emergency Room to the healing walls of the Intensive Care Unit, from the meticulous monitoring in Telemetry to the tender care provided on the Oncology floor, she covered every unit with a heart brimming with compassion for the people she cares for. Her dedication to her patients is unwavering, her kindness is a beacon of hope in the darkest of hours for some.
Giselle is a representation of strength, her character firm, yet softened by the gentle touch of a being nurse. She embodies resilience and courage, a committed advocate for those under her care. Her strong commitment to her patients knows no bounds. Patients know when they are in Giselle’s care there is no need to worry.
Giselle now requires our support. She has recently been diagnosed with liver and colorectal cancer. This recent diagnosis has deeply impacted Giselle and her family. Her ICU team aims to gather funds to alleviate financial strain, enabling Giselle to prioritize her health and well-being.
Today, we ask you to join us as we rally around one of our own, extending our collective arms in a gesture of solidarity and support. Let us stand together, embodying the spirit of compassion that defines our community, as we offer solace, strength, and hope to Giselle and her family in their time of need. All proceeds will go directly to Giselle and her family to help support her in her time of need.
