Help GIS Students in Nigeria

In celebration of International GIS Day, help me sponsor three (3) GIS students pay for school fees as well as fund a seminar event November 18th, 2015 at the University of Calabar, Nigeria.

The schlorships will be awarded to 3 students who submit the most compelling GIS map project at the GIS event hosted in part by me, Kimberly Mensah!
First Prize: $1000
Second Prize: $500
Third Prize: $300
The rest of the funds will go to purchasing a new computer and ESRI software for the GIS lab as well as costs of hosting the event!
This event is in its second year. The 2014 event was a success.

This year, the goal is to create awareness and celebrate GIS. Nigeria, being one of the fastest developing economies on the planet offers an ideal opportunity to showcase the implementation of geospatial technology.
Aims
•Discovering and exploring the uses and benefits of GIS to users and Stakeholders, creating awareness, building and nurturing GIS within the community and celebrating GIS with everyone

•GIS Application in Land Administration in Cross River State, Nigeria (Speaker - Mr Ochiche, Director, Cross River Geographic Information Agency)
•GIS as a Decision Support System for Solving Spatial Problems in Nigeria (Speaker-Surv Eyo O. Oku, Surveyor General of Cross River State)
•Uses, Applications and Prospects of GIS (Speaker: Dr Inah Okon, Lecturer, Dept. Of Geography and Environmental Science, UNICAL)
