Help Giulio recover from debilitating knife injury
Donation protected
Giulio Cetto is my daughter’s partner and soon to be father of their baby in just two weeks. He has suffered a serious knife injury to his arm. The ulnar nerve in his upper arm was severed which controls his fingers.
Giulio is a bass player and needs those fingers to make music and to make a living.
He has lost many gigs this past month due to the Covid/Omicron pandemic and now this injury is a major setback as gigs just started to return. He’s unable to apply for government disability benefits due to not meeting certain criteria. He will need funding for medical needs, loss of income, for raising a new baby, therapy and so much more as a result of this.
The doctors gave him an estimated 30-month timeline for a full recovery! 2.5 years is an eternity for a musician to lose his momentum and keep his skills up. We believe Giulio will recover much faster than this because of his strong will, his passion for music and loving support from his family and friends.
His surgery is scheduled for Feb 2. They will explore the damage, possibly connect the nerve endings by using a section of his nerves from his leg, and then operate on another section of his arm to reroute healthy nerves to the damaged nerve. He will need to relearn how to use his fingers with lots of physical therapy.
Your support will mean so much to him as he deals with this devastating injury, the loss of work, fear for his future as a musician, and worry and depression around not being able to fully participate and support his family in his new role as a father. Please keep Giulio in your prayers. We will continue to update this page on his recovery.
