Give a funeral to a hero

Hi, my name is Mercedes. My dad passed away this morning from stage 4 lung cancer. It all started in March when it started to become harder to walk and was originally diagnosed with a pulled muscle. The doctors didn’t listen to him and It didn’t get any better and eventually in the beginning of May after begging for a test he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. He at that point was using a walker to get around and was still in pain. He started radiation as soon as he was diagnosed. But things started to progress fast. The radiation began to work but while doing radiation treatment his oncologist had him waiting a month for a biopsy to come back to start chemo. This test should not have waited because by the time we got the test back 2 weeks later, still waiting to hear from the doctor. At this point my dad couldn’t walk, had fluid on his lungs, which made it to where he only had one working lung. He was in agonizing pain, he stopped eating and he just wasn’t himself anymore. At this point they had him in and out the hospital and they told him he is no longer a candidate for chemo because he was too weak to take it and that there was nothing they could do for him anymore. They told us it’d be a matter of days before he’d be gone. He didn’t deserve what fate had met him. We believe he would have had a fighting chance if he was given proper care, unfortunately this was not the case. My dad was a firefighter for almost 10 years saving lives with no hesitation. He won firefighter of the year almost 4 years in a row and worked all the way up to Fire Captain. With such an aggressive decline and how unexpected this was we his family have no way to afford a proper service for him. If there is anything anyone can afford to spare please please help me give my dad the service he deserves.
