Give a Girl a Pad Fundraiser!

The African Immigrants Resource Center and Ya-Ya's Place Family Daycare are embarking on a nonprofit project to benefit the women of Nigeria. Most women in the world go through menstrual pains and cramps monthly and this can affect their wellbeing. In Nigeria there are many myths, falsehoods, misunderstandings and cultural taboos associated with menstruation. The outcome is a negative stigma surrounding the subject, which can lead to many young women feeling disgusted with themselves and their bodies. What's worse is that this stigma appears in academia, peer and family relationships, religious activities, and more. This campaign strives to empower the young, and vulnerable Nigerian women between the ages of 10 and 34. This goal is approached in two ways; the first being free distribution of the Longrich Sanitary Napkins to the women of Nigeria. This excellent product comes from the Longrich International Company in China. It's made from 100 percent pure cotton, free of Dioxin or bleach, which can be commonly found in other standard sanitary napkins. Its high cotton makeup and other components make it safe, and comfortable pad for all women! The second method by which the goal of this fundraiser would be achieved, is through the organization of workshops and training on menstrual pain management, reproductive health, sex education, and family planning. With these goals in mind, it is the hope that we can eliminate the stigma surrounding the female reproductive system in Nigeria and empower its women to feel more confident in themselves.
