Give a Refugee family a new Home!

These precious girls desperately need our help and the need is urgent!
Abrar and his wife A’dab (names altered to protect identity), are two very close friends of mine that I met while in Bangkok. They have two beautiful daughters both pre-school age. They are both hard working, skilled, and deeply loving people. Back in their home country of Pakistan, Abrar fell in love and married A’dab, who was a Christian and converted to Christianity. As a result, they had to flee from Muslim extremists that threatened their lives.
For over seven years, they have lived a meager existence as refugees in Thailand. Despite their UN refugee status, Thailand does not recognize this and they live as undocumented, illegal aliens. The desperation of this situation is palpable. Thailand takes immigration very seriously, and to be caught illegally in the country is to face extremely harsh prison conditions. Twice already, A’dab and both children have been imprisoned (yes, they imprisoned the babies too). The conditions in the prison were so ghastly, the youngest nearly died. Abrar has to work under the table to feed them, and they share a one room apartment. They live in hiding.
Covid has made their situation even more dire. Abrar has been unable to work and the family can not risk leaving their apartment. For months the Thai police have been checking identification for people on the streets. They could be imprisoned if caught undocumented. They are, in every way, trapped. Our church is doing everything they can to help support the family, but it is clear they need a real solution and now. They are desperate to leave Thailand and need a home.
This is where I need your help. A small infantry, myself included, are working to help this family immigrate to Canada. There is a church there, that with financial sponsorship is prepared to find them housing, support their needs, and help them with the process of gaining Canadian citizenship. We praise God that this family has found a willing and open church to sponsor them. The total amount the family needs for the entire year is only $22,000. However the first 10,000 is needed by July 1 in order to submit their application to the Canadian government. We already have $8200 of the $10.000. Which means we currently have a few more days to raise the other $1,800. The remaining $12,000 can be raised over the course of the next 6 months.
I am reaching out to you now, asking for your immediate response to this need. I realize that is a lot to ask, as you may have your own struggles and financial hardships during this time. I beg you to please consider giving whatever you can, and cannot thank you enough for any amount that you can spare. Your kindness will permanently and radically change the lives of four people who have already given everything they had to follow Christ. You can be the hand that lifts their suffering and part of God’s work and plan to give this family hope and a future.
