Who am I?

My name is Audrey Dilworth and I am raising money and awareness for Cancer Care Manitoba. This fundraiser will be run from today, March 30th, until June 18th- the day the Manitoba Marathon takes place. I am running the full marathon on Father’s Day in honour of my Dad, whom I lost to cancer 5 years ago today.

My Dad, and my entire family involved, received the best care and kindness in the world when he was going through treatments and transplants. He had the best doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, dentists, you name it. Truly the best of the best trying to get him back to better health.

I am now 19 years old, turning 20 a week after the marathon, and I have wanted to give back to our community for some time now, I just didn’t know how. However, one of my Dad’s coworkers had started a GoFundMe for my Mom, Sister, and I when my Dad was being placed in palliative care. The amount people donated truly changed our lives and aided us in being financially secure without my Dad’s income. I am able to go to University without financial burden and the three of us were able to keep our beautiful home. I will forever be great full and owe so much to every person that helped us during that time.

With GoFundMe being something that changed my life in ways I can’t imagine, I thought it was only fitting to create this fundraiser here. I know the majority of people in our society know someone in their lives that has been affected by cancer in some way, shape, or form.

I am someone that hates asking people for help, not to mention money, but please, if you are able, help me make an impact with something so close to so many peoples hearts.
