Give Back to Donna Forester, the Caregiver

Donation protected
Hello! I'm Sylvia, mother of Donna, and I'm seeking your help to care for the ultimate care-giver.

On March 11, 2024, after a long 16-hour shift at Emory Hospital, Donna was on her way home from work when she experienced a traumatic ordeal. She was rear ended by another vehicle. The impact left her flatlined. Thank God for the miraculous work of the EMS, Fire and Police Departments that helped to resuscitate her.

Donna was then transported to the ICU Trauma Center at Grady Hospital where we learned that she suffered a traumatic brain injury causing bleeding to three different areas of her brain. Additionally, Donna suffered seven broken ribs and was bleeding from her lungs.
The medical staff had to complete an emergency procedure to relieved the pressure from her brain, inducing her into a coma for approximately four weeks.

Upon awakening from the coma, Donna's fight back to a normal life would begin. Donna spent over six weeks at a tracheostomy facility to help her manage her breathing. Eventually she was weened off and transported to a rehabilitation intake facility for physical therapy and additional healing.

This ordeal has affected Donna's cognitive, physical, emotional and neurological functions to list a few. Donna has also undergone various surgeries and medical procedures to help get her back to some form of normalcy.

Recently, Donna was released from an inpatient rehabilitation facility; however, she continues to fight to get adequate care for her disability. Donna’s day to day needs include, but are not limited to having an aide to help care for her, physical and occupational therapy, wheelchair transportation to and from doctor appointments, not to mention the PPEs needed for her care. The cost is insurmountable!

Outpatient care has taken a significant toll on the immediate family, including financial, emotional and physical help being provided.

We do believe that at this juncture, Donna would be better at a facility where she could receive help her with neurological, orthopedic, physical and a medical needs from a team of doctors who can coordinate a plan for her healing. Your generous support will help with an opportunity to give Donna the appropriate care she desires, a reflection of who she is and spending her life providing to others, especially at Emory Hospital.

Thank you.
