Give Edward Scissorpaws a Chance to Overcome FIP

Hi all,

My sweet boy Eddie has been very sick, his health has quickly deteriorated in the past week. My vet strongly believes it is FIP, a genetic mutation of coronavirus that affects young cats and can be fatal in as little as 5 weeks. The vet bills to officially diagnose him are adding up with the ultrasounds and other procedures required to move forward with his care. This is only the beginning, as the medication to keep him comfortable during this process is expensive and the cost to help him overcome this starts at around $2000 for complete treatment that will last about 3 months. Without this, euthanasia is the best option for his comfort and well-being.

Eddie came to me as a rescue kitten in February 2023 to be a companion for my other cat and to help me cope with suicidal ideation, Bipolar Disorder, and Complex PTSD. He's always been a high-energy but clumsy cat who lets me put on silly costumes, plays fetch, and always tells me about his day when I come home. Having him in my life has been critical for my own well-being and happiness, as he and Clarice often become my only motivation on difficult days. He’s a lifeline and a constant source of comfort, helping me when I am struggling to make it through my most difficult moments.

Anyone who knows me knows how difficult it is for me to ask for help, but seeing my little black cat be so sick at not even 2 years old is so unexpected and devastating. I'd be so grateful for any and all help with this, whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this. With being laid off from my job a few months ago, the cost of effective care is unattainable for me at this time and I'd hate for him to lose the chance at a long life due to this. My cats are everything to me and have been a big part of my support system, and I want to do everything I can to give him the chance and life he deserves.
