Give Eliyanah Carson Every Chance at Life

Hi Loved Ones. My name is Erin Harrington. I am writing this on the behalf of Christan Valdez-Carson and Jared Carson. I am the sister of Jared.
This is a hard position for a Carson to be in..... to ask for Help. But for my sister in law and brother, I am humbly asking. When it comes to a crisis, we usually are pretty good at it. We tend to act, jump in, drive a million miles, stay up for days, whatever to get the job done. I have learned that Christan is very similar and her heart and faith are like an energizer bunny. Yet they have found themselves in a situation that they personally can't fix. This situation is above their means and their expertise.
After less than a year of marriage they were excited to learn Christan was pregnant. This would be her 4th and Jared's first child. The 20 week ultrasound revealed that their baby had some abnormalities. This required them to be seen by one of the top specialists in South Dakota. At that appointment they were excited to learn that their baby is a GIRL!
Unfortunately, Eliyanah Grace also showed some facial and limb abnormalities (such as a clubbed foot, and possibly a cleft lip and/or issues with her nose & right eye), fluid on the left side of her brain, a curved spine, and the most devastating is that her heart, liver, and intestines seem to be growing outside of her chest cavity (called omphalocele & ectopia cordis). The S.D. specialist has stated that with everything combined that Ellie will not survive.
While this news is heartbreaking to hear; Christan and Jared have led the way on realizing that when God creates life, it is our job to trust and to honor that life. Ellie has almost 15 more weeks to mature, grow, heal, and for GOD to provide in His miracles of healing and heart transformations.
As of November 8th, Christan's water broke. She is not in labor, is stable, but will remain on bed rest in the Rapid City Monument hospital until she goes in to labor. Rapid City is 45 minutes away from their home in Custer. Jared will remain at the hospital as much as possible as she could go in to labor at any time. They have been supported and provided information from the hospital counseling team on all scenarios.
There are many loved ones and supporters who are being their village. People have stepped up to help with their older children, dogs, extra work shifts for Jared, all to help Christan remain on bed rest. For all of that, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Myself and others will drive across the country to stay with their kids, or be with Christan if Jared has to work etc. But the one thing I can't fix and the one thing they can't fix is breaking down financial barriers. These parents are going to faithfully follow God's call. They will not stop til they get the best care. But the amount of medical debt they are looking at is staggering. Their deductible is $12,000. After that they still have a larger out of pocket max, even with the insurance split. In January 2024 their deductible will start over again. Jared and Christan are putting their faith in Jesus, that he will continue to keep their ship upright and moving forward. I am humbly asking for your help in pushing them further down the stream. First and foremost, your prayers and support are coveted. Thank you for praying. If you feel led, any funds will go to help with medical costs, travel, room and board.
Galatians 6:2
"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ" We were never meant to do life alone. We need the love and care of others, as much as we are needed by others in the same ways.
