For those of you that know Rob Marling you know it’s true when I say he is one of the most kind-hearted, patient and generous people out there. I’ve also never met anyone with a worse string of bad luck. Just when you think things are looking up - the universe strikes again. It’s heartbreaking to watch. Rob has dedicated his life to rescuing and rehabilitating horses - each with their own stories and sad situations. Some from ditches, some from slaughter. He’s amazing at what he does - he spends years rehabilitating and retraining these sweet horses in order to give them a chance. Most of the battles he fights are their mental challenges, but physically there are challenges too. After losing the farm that he rented for years (the owner sold) he has jumped from farm to farm for the last 7 years trying to find a place he could call his own and focus his energy on his horses. With Covid at the tail end of those years… things have been tough to say the least. He has finally found a beautiful, private place to call his own, but like most farms, it’s a lot of work (and money) to keep running. He needs help but would never in a hundred years ask for it.
Hay for this upcoming winter is estimated at atleast $12,000 - $15,000.
Medication and digestive supplements for the horses (some have stomach problems) is approximately $10,000 / year. This isn’t including food, vet, dentist, etc.
The truck he uses to go to work everyday is consistently in the shop and has proven unreliable many times over.
I’ve never done a GoFundMe before - I’ve never been one to ask for help. Nor has he. We are going out on a limb and finally asking for some. If you’ve been to the farm, you know any money raised will go to the horses. If you haven’t been to the farm - come visit!
There are no words to describe how grateful we are to you for your support.
