Give For Grouse Initiative
Donation protected
Ruffed Grouse, The King of Spring, the Bellwether of All Forest Wildlife, has a very fragile future. According to the Ruffed Grouse Society, their populations have declined at least 50% throughout the Eastern United States in the last 20 years and current projections indicate numbers will be zero in our lifetime.
So please, join us as we introduce the Give for Grouse Initiative and work to bring ruffed grouse back to our forests. Your donations will be earmarked strictly for ruffed grouse management projects. We will take your dollars and distribute them to groups and organizations all across the ruffed grouse's range for equipment, land acquisition, advocation, and whatever it takes to make this a reality.
Our first fundraising project called the Bucks to Birds Campaign raised almost $700 and allowed us to purchase chainsaw equipment that we sent to wildlife technicians with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Those donations and that equipment are now responsible for ruffed grouse and wildlife habitat being created in Northeast Iowa!
For our first project with the Give for Grouse Initiative, we're hoping to raise $2,000 that we can donate to Ruffed Grouse Society Chapters and biologists for the purchase of prescribed fire equipment and gear to use on controlled burns in ruffed grouse habitat. Things like drip torches, sprayers, PPE, and other fire equipment to create optimal habitat for ruffed grouse!
While we encourage you to donate financially to the Give for Grouse Initiative because that's how we can make the biggest impact across the ruffed grouse's range, we want you to give for grouse, by whatever means you can. Give them your time. Give them your passion. Give them your voice. Give them habitat. It all adds up and makes a difference and together, we can give grouse a future.
