Help Cody's Family - Burn victim
Donation protected
Cody was a happy 2 year old who had no cares in the world, wonderful parents, 3 amazing siblings and a home filled with love. But the evening of Sunday 12th March 2017 his life has changed forever. With everyone enjoying the nice weather outside, mum and dad gardening, Taya 12, Cooper 10, Ella 5 and Cody on the swings, trampoline and sandpit when Cody wondered off to where we had enjoyed a camp fire the night before. As he has walked into the silver ash and started silently screaming he has tried to save his poor little feet by plunging his hands down to scrap off the nasty burning material. Now in that moment Trevor and Marina faced what would be a parents worse nightmare and one I could not fathom.
Cody was rushed to Toowoomba Hospital and was immediately transferred to Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital Brisbane. He sustained full thickness burns to his feet and hands and partial on his legs and arms. On Monday he went in for his first surgery to dress the affected areas. Cody’s poor little body was so tired and he coded, the arrest team brought him back to life and we are all so grateful.
Cody is looking at having many surgeries for dressing the wounds and very soon the start of skin grafts. This will become his normal, filled with hospital visits, physio and pain until he stops growing. It is because of this that this fund has been started. The aim is to raise enough money that this family (which has given so much to our community) will not have to worry about their home and activities the other children are currently involved in. Cody will need one of his parents 24/7 but there is also 3 other wonderful children who need their parents. If we can pay off some of their home and ease their financial burden then they can continue to be the dedicated parents they have always been. This family needs our help to keep them together.
Please help us fundraise and spread the word, so we can help Cody’s family. Whether you can help raise funds through a sponsored activity, or by giving a direct donation, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
18th March 2017
Cody has been doing physio the last few days and as you can see they are trying to get him to put pressure on his hands and feet. I believe this will help the nerve endings to keep working and enable him to feel. Physio only lasts for 2-5 minutes due to the pain. What an inspiring little man. Go Cody.
