Give Imogene Back Her Independence

My beautiful granddaughter Imogene at only 24 has been battling a complex condition with her eyes that has resulted in a loss of independence and a total change of lifestyle.

At the age of 13 she suffered temporary double vision that was diagnosed at the time as a factor of 'Stress'. This would come and go as she moved into adulthood.

Things started to change as she realised whilst driving she was losing her ability to see traffic coming from a side angle & was losing her ability to judge depth perception.

Living with this secret, she made excuses not to drive without telling anyone what was happening. As the months went on, she became unsteady on her feet, dizzy, clumsy, falling downstairs, cutting herself whilst preparing meals until she finally confided in us and reached out for a diagnosis.

Now with the condition unstable and progressing into further complications, she requires the assistance of a service dog for safety, especially when she can become unresponsive without warning!

A service dog for her will mean the dog will be trained to alert her and know when she is about to slip into a state of emergency to keep her safe, offering her sensory support due to the heightened sensory issues from partially losing her eye sight, distract and support during panic attacks and sensory meltdowns, pick up items from the floor as bending down causes fainting and dizziness, offer stability and confidence when out walking and help with daily tasks in the house including alerting for help when needed.

This cost involves purchasing a dog breed that is suitable from a registered breeder, specialised training for approx 18 months and equipment. Imogene needs to start this process now as it can take up to 2 years for the dog to be fully trained, and with her condition not stable, we want to ensure she is in the position to train the dog now to be her support now and in the future.
