Laura Baker, mom, grandma, artist, active community member, and long-time Rosemount Area Arts Council (RAAC) board member, recently had her car burn up in the garage at Cameo Place where she lives in Rosemount. She's been babying that car for quite awhile. When she went to start it the other day, the car made a loud boom (think sonic boom) and smoke started coming from the engine. Speculation is that the battery blew up. She was able to get out and call 9-1-1. The firemen got there promptly as black smoke billowed out of the big garage door. The building tenants were evacuated to their community room- all are well. All emergency helpers- fire, police, ambulance EMTs, etc- were wonderful. Especially to Laura, when the excessive adrenalin build-up almost brought her down. The fire was soon out, but then clean-up began. Laura also had a number of her original art pieces in the car that were destroyed in the fire.
We are starting this Go Fund Me page to raise money to help Laura replace her car. Laura is a very proud and independent person and we love her dearly. She was overwhelmed by this offer. With reluctance, she accepted it. Friends have stepped forward and offered her rides and the loan of a car, but those are only temporary solutions. We'd love to put one of those big, red ribbons on a car for her in time for the holidays.
My name is Ann Loch, a friend from RAAC, who's trying to help this good buddy. Please do what you can to help.
