Give María Paz a Chance to Live Pain-Free

I am raising funds for my 12-year-old cousin in Colombia who has been diagnosed with a rare intestinal disorder. Her best treatment options are in the US. Please see her story below in her own words. Thank you in advance.

Hello, I am María Paz, the eldest daughter of a beautiful family in Santa Marta, Colombia. I have an 8-year-old sister and parents who support me unconditionally. My life changed drastically when I was diagnosed with gastroparesis and intestinal insufficiency in November 2023. This rare disease has turned my daily life into a constant struggle against intense pain, perpetual nausea, and extreme loss of appetite. Since then, I have depended on a gastrostomy tube for nourishment.

Before this difficult situation, I was an active and happy child who enjoyed school, dancing, and music. But my symptoms forced me to miss school and isolate socially. After several months of hospitalization and multiple treatments, my only hope is to continue my treatment in Bogotá and seek help from specialized hospitals outside the country.

My condition requires monthly travel to Bogotá for medical consultations and evaluations. However, the available treatments in Colombia are being exhausted, and I need to explore additional options at Boston Children's Hospital in Massachusetts and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, where specialists have extensive experience treating my disease.

To access these treatments, we need to raise at least $50,000. This amount will cover medical expenses both in Colombia and abroad, including travel, consultations, and specialized treatments.
