Give me shelter! St Mary-at-Finchley

We are raising money for the Give me shelter! St Mary-at-Finchley Church and Churchyard Project.

This is a creative and community-oriented project, supported by the National Lottery Heritage fund, which combines repair, restoration and conservation work on the church and surrounding area with a rich programme of cultural and community engagement.

It is a project which articulates sanctuary as a shared experience, threaded with friendship and conversation, and affirms the church as one of those spaces that sparks and sustains community, through worship as through cultural, social, musical and educational events that offer welcome, inclusion, company, compassion and joy.

Shelter may also offer an image of God, source of protection, safety, refuge and renewal, through all times and seasons, for all people.

You can find out more about the project here

To raise money for this project we are holding a Bible from Memory challenge. We will be memorising favourite verses and passages from the Bible and reciting them at a special gathering on July 21st. This is a challenge for young and old and all in between!

Recent years have shown many of us that isolation distorts human lives. So it is important that we nurture spaces of encounter in our communities. Your sponsorship will help us to do this, making healing and hope possible for others. We are profoundly grateful for your generosity.
