Give Mohammed in Gaza a Chance to Live

Donation protected
On April 15th, my 21-year-old brother Mohammed Matar started feeling dizzy, weak, and fatigued. We conducted an initial blood test and discovered that he had severe anemia, with his hemoglobin level at just 5. The situation in Rafah was extremely difficult due to the occupation and the ongoing war.

We struggled to move him from one hospital to another. Two units of blood were transfused, but finding a place for him in the hospital was almost impossible due to the overwhelming number of casualties. The following day, we visited another hospital to understand the cause of his anemia, but we kept moving from one location to another, from one doctor to the next.

There was a severe shortage of medical equipment and doctors because of the war. Eventually, we met Dr. Salah Abu Shanab, a hematologist, who requested new tests. On April 22nd, we managed to complete the tests, and it was discovered that Mohammed had leukemia.

This was the beginning of our suffering.

Leukemia is a serious illness, and with the shortage of medication and the difficulty of transportation, everything became incredibly hard. The doctor recommended a referral for treatment abroad. We prepared all the necessary paperwork and completed all procedures, but due to the occupation's refusal to allow travel, Mohammed has not been able to leave until today.

Since that date, up until today, September 20th, we have been enduring this hardship, moving between the hospital and our place of residence. The hospital can only provide pain relief and blood transfusions.

Now, we are reaching out for help. Mohammed urgently needs to travel abroad for a bone marrow transplant, a procedure that is not available in Gaza. Donations will be used to cover the costs of his medical treatment, travel, and accommodation abroad. Every contribution, no matter how small, will bring us closer to saving Mohammed’s life. Your support can make the difference in ensuring that he receives the care he so desperately needs.

Please consider donating to help Mohammed get the treatment he deserves. Your generosity could give him a chance at life.
