Give one thousand children a gift this Christmas

For many Zambian street children, Christmas is not a day filled with joy. We want to give children the opportunity to experience the Christmas spirit through theatre.

As part of our Christmas program, Barefeet is going to present a brand-new Christmas production, to be staged from 5th-10th December 2022, as well as providing a meal and a present to the children who attend.

About the play

Float is based on the myths surrounding the building of the Kariba hydroelectric dam and the two Nyami nyami gods believed to have been living in the river.

The play will be told through Barefeet’s innovative world of sound, song, dance, circus, spectacle, mischief, music, humor, and fun—all unpacked in a truly Zambian style. The show uncovers issues of climate change and the environment in a unique and engaging way.

How you can help

Just 120 ZMW / £6.50 will pay for a child from the local communities, streets, local drop-in centers, orphanages, and community schools to see the show, have a hot meal and a present.

The show will also be open to the public at 19hrs on the 9th and 10th of December with a matinee at 14hrs the 10th. We would also welcome you to bring groups that you work with.

Barefeet Theatre is an innovative arts project that exists to enhance the lives of vulnerable young people in Zambia through the power of creativity.

We work directly with young people facing abuse, prostitution, drugs, lack of food and access to health care through outreach programs and theatre workshops.
