Give Peanut a Pain-Free Life: Support her surgery
Donation protected
Thank you for clicking and taking a look at our fundraiser. My name is Tim, I work a nonprofit job and live with my wife Sara, a first grade teacher. We have a three year old son who loves his two dogs more than anything.
Over the last year, our dog Peanut's mobility and energy has been steadily decreasing until the last two months where she was no longer able to walk up stairs or jump onto the couch or bed. For the last couple weeks, she'll spend a half hour at a time whining in pain. After a couple months and hundreds of dollars in pain management, doctor's visits, and X-Rays, the solution is clear-- The vet's conclusion is that the only way to realistically improve Peanut's quality of life is double knee surgery on her hind legs in order to reconstruct her arthritic knees and a pair of damaged CCLs (the doggy equivalent of the ACL). Without it, her ability to walk, play, go up stairs, and even sit and lay down comfortably will only get worse. With her seventh birthday around the corner there is still plenty of time for her to regain her playfulness and energy and get back to being the goofy dog she is. We have had our Peanut since she was only 3 months and it breaks our heart to see this little sassy girl unable to live her fullest life.
Let's be clear-- We are going to go through with this no matter what because we love our dog and she is a treasured part of our family; the best big sister our three-year-old could ask for. But this kind of surgery is hugely expensive and it will require us taking on some substantial debt that it would be nice to avoid.
The surgery is estimated to cost $10,000 and will require two months of closely monitored recovery.
Even if you can't spare the cash, and I get it, we'd appreciate you sharing this if you can.
Any help will go directly toward Peanut's treatment and her recovery. She's the best girl.
