Give Ren The Ol' Toppy Choppy

Hello, I'm Reni (pictured right). I am a 30-something-year-old nonbinary person and I need to get a couple of things off my chest.

I'm raising funds to cover the cost of Gender-Affirming Chest Wall Surgery aka Top Surgery.

The total raised here is to accompany my own coin to cover psych evaluation fees, consultation fees as well as the surgery itself.

A bit about me - I am a writer, artist, baker, silly goose, and I live in Sussex with my large wonderful cat son Snowball.

I realised I was nonbinary after many years of reading Tumblr posts, Reddit threads etc, and thinking "Haha, I relate to that, I shall not explore those feelings any further."

Growing up, I've felt a meh feeling in presenting as a cis woman and very apathetic to having beautiful huge tracts of land. I didn't learn or see anything about the vastness of gender identity until my mid-20s (late bloomer hive, rise up). It is a continuous journey, even though I really wish there was a quiz that simply gives you a definitive answer.

"Two weeks off? Might try wearing those binders I bought a year ago." I stopped wearing bras and started wearing chest binders to flatten my chest in 2020 during that viral outbreak. Binders really do help my gender dysphoria, I can wear styles of clothing that I feel fucking powerful in. I only wear binders when outside the house for short periods of time but they aren't a long-term solution for me. I have scoliosis (curvature of the spine) so anything that adds pressure for too long is a no-no.

Thanks to many resources and first-person accounts, I have a plan to start the process for an evaluation from a gender psychologist early next year, with a view to a consultation and surgery with a renowned surgeon at Nuffield Health in Brighton.
