Give Sadie a Chance for a Healthier Future

Sadie was born premature, and spent 88 days in the NICU, followed by countless appointments, hospital stays, chronic illness, and sleepless nights. The doctors in our home state told us she was "a medical mystery" and that she may have a genetic condition that we just don't know enough about yet. In May 2024, Sadie was diagnosed with Pulmonary Vein Atresia. None of the pulmonary veins from her right lung connect to her heart. This was caused by undiagnosed and untreated pulmonary vein stenosis over the course of 7 years.

This has caused pulmonary hypertension and for her right lung to be very small, scarred, and has very limited function. Her left lung is essentially doing all the work for her tiny little body. 10 days after diagnosis, we left the state in search of better healthcare and thankfully, we found that at Children's of Colorado. Sadie will have to go through a series of procedures in hopes of restoring blood flow, reducing pulmonary hypertension and the hope is it will improve pulmonary function for her right lung some.

We are having to permanently relocate to Colorado (1500 miles away from our home state) in order for her to receive the care she so rightfully deserves. We will be here for at least a year realistically and are currently in a month-to-month rental. Between travel for appointments, out-of-pocket costs, moving to a place that has a cost of living almost double what it is back home. I have never asked for help like this through her entire course of care, or in my life for that matter... This has put an immense financial strain on our family and I am swallowing my pride in hopes that we can get some help to continue her care in a place that will offer her the best prognosis possible.
