Give Saoirse a Chance to Rebuild Her Life
Donation protected
This is Saoirse! She is a trans lesbian socialist, researcher, and activist who is dedicated to liberation from capitalism, racism, transmisogyny, etc. She also happens to be my girlfriend.
Saoirse & I met last year, at a pro-ceasefire protest organized by Jewish Voice for Peace and If Not Now little more than a week after October 7th. She & I were among three trans women arrested and held until the following evening (approx. 26 hours).
Me & two other trans women were split off & kept by ourselves in a holding center overnight in terrible conditions before being transferred to the men's section of the courthouse jail, all while being subjected to transmisogynistic bullying & harassment by the cops.
Literally the only thing that kept me from completely losing hope & sanity was the solidarity I built with Saoirse & the other trans woman I was locked up with. I have since started dating Saoirse, who has been there for me through other tough times.
Shortly after coming back from jail, Saoirse was forced to move out of her apartment and lived for several months with her family in Ireland. While there, she went through a severe mental health crisis until finally returning to the U.S. in June.
Since then, her situation has dramatically improved -- she is with her partner and her community (trans, leftist Jews) and has managed to access the medical and mental health resources she needs.
However, all of this is now threatened since Saoirse will lose access to her housing by November 11th! She needs a living space and independent funds for living expenses. If you donate to this fundraiser, you will give a poor trans woman a chance to keep rebuilding her life after a very turbulent year.
I know that there are lots of people in need of funds right now & causes that need your support more urgently. However, if you have the cash to spare, I'd appreciate any help you could provide.
