Give sleeping bags to the unhoused in Nashville!
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jennafer Wheeler, and I live in Nashville, TN. Ever since I started working and living here, I've noticed that there are many unhoused people living day-to-day on the streets, and that many of them struggle to stay warm during the winters. I've seen some huddled in blankets or visibly shivering, and others asking for warm clothing and blankets. So I thought it would be a good idea to start a fundraiser to buy the unhoused people of Nashville cold weather, waterproof sleeping bags to allow them to stay warm and dry and survive this winter.
The effects of the elements is one of the greatest dangers facing unhoused people; several hundred are killed by hypothermia every year. There are approximately 2,000 unhoused people in Nashville, and with predictions of a chilly, wet winter in Tennessee, some of them could die as well. Cold weather waterproof sleeping bags would protect these people against these conditions facing them this winter. The sleeping bags I will buy will cost around $50 each so reaching of the starting goal of $600 would allow 10 or 11 people to be given sleeping bags, though I hope to increase this goal eventually. Once the sleeping bags are bought, I will be going around Nashville distributing them by hand.
I ask that you consider the dire situation unhoused people face during the winter and donate to protect them from the effects of the cold and help them survive into the new year! Thank you for reading.
