Give someone a camera
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Jess Beaudin, a photographer and communications consultant in Kamloops! I recently paid $1500 for a $500 camera on marketplace (I know - I should have made sure it was the model I thought I was purchasing before taking it home). I can't return the camera, and it's not what I'm looking for for myself.
Instead of reselling it to get some of my money back, I'm asking the community to make a small donation and nominate someone who could benefit from this camera but can't afford it on their own. As a thank you, you will also receive a free download of my custom made font, created from sand collected from the Thompson River (you can check it out here). Please allow up to 24 hours to receive the font files.
Let's turn my mistake into something positive for someone else!
How do I nominate someone?
- Make a donation and in the comments tell me who you are nominating and why they would benefit from this camera and the free lesson and resources on using it.
Who can you nominate?
- Yourself, someone else, or even a group or organization who would benefit from this camera but can't afford it right now.
Why do I have to donate to nominate someone?
- By donating, you're helping "group-buy" a camera for someone else in our community who can't afford it. You're also helping me recuperate some of the $1,500 I spent on the camera. While I don't expect to recuperate the entire $1,500 I spent, and that's not the main point of this fundraiser, it does help a small business owner afford a necessary gear upgrade after this mishap.
What's up with this font download?
I love incorporating the environment and land into work - mostly by using native plants to develop film instead of traditional (toxic) film chemicals (you can see what plant-developed film looks like here).
To further involve the environment as an active participant in my work, I collected sand from the Thompson River and used it's texture to create a font. I think it's cool and want to share it with people. It is for sale on my website for personal and commercial use, but as a thank you for donating, you'll get a free download of this unique and local font for your personal use. You can see the font here.
Please allow 24 hours for me to send you the font file!
