Give Street Dogs in Bolivia a Second Chance

Hello! My name is Jenn, and I'm a Canadian who lived in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Boliva for a little over 12 years. During the last 5 of those years I was a volunteer at a registered dog shelter called Fundación Mi Refugio SC ("My Refuge" Foundation), which started humbly in an empty, rented lot. Since then, the dedication and hard work of its founders (Carla and Gabriela) and its volunteers have changed this space into a place of love and care for the more than 350 dogs it has rescued from the streets.

Since returning to Canada, I've missed the opportunity of helping with this cause, especially because I still see how many animals desperately need Mi Refugio's protection, and how many have to be turned away due to its limited resources. Besides rescuing dogs, Mi Refugio has vaccine and spaying/neutering programs, provides public education on animal care, seeks forever homes for its rescues and does ongoing and permanent follow-up on their wellbeing.

Go Fund Me doesn't operate in Bolivia, so I've set up this account in order to help raise funds for this incredibly worthy cause. Money raised will be used to buy a property so that Mi Refugio, can have its own forever home. I will be updating this page with the shelter's new arrivals and happy endings, so you can seem some of the great work being done.
