Hi, my name is Haley and this is my dear friend Kristi's story for those of you who do not know her. Kristi passed away unexpectedly with a severe lung infection on August 8th at the age of forty-nine. She was a single mom with two amazing children. She was beautiful, kind, passionate, goofy and loved her kids fiercely. They were her world! Kristi however was no stranger to struggle and pain. In 2008 she was diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkins Lymphoma. She described that day in a Facebook post a couple of years ago. "I never realized the unimaginable blessing and gift that was. Life had new meaning that day....just me and the Dr. on the clinic shift at Parkland Hospital. He told me I had cancer...I told him, let's get going already I have a 3 and a 5-year-old to raise!" Kristi fought hard for two years and finally beat cancer after her second stem cell transplant. I had a front-row seat to her battle, as she lived with my family and me for several months during that time. I was in awe of her positive attitude, her strength and her faith. No one loved and appreciated all the little moments like she did. She gave me strength, hope and joy just from witnessing her journey. From that same post 2 years ago she also said "My prayer was to be alive to see them become independent and strong. God has always been faithful..." God is faithful! He answered her prayers and gave her 15 more years! Ashlee, her youngest just celebrated her 19th birthday a few weeks ago and was to be headed to The University of Mississippi this week. Though the kid's plans are on hold for now as their world has been turned upside down, I do know this, God is still faithful! My heart desires to help raise funds for her service and any other financial burdens she was carrying for her kids. Any excess funds will be used to help pay for the kid's education. Ashlee would like to pursue a nursing degree and Drew is starting his third year at The University of Oklahoma. There he is studying Communications with a minor in Construction Science. We appreciate your support at this difficult time, whether it is financial or through prayer. The service date and time are still to be determined.
"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." - Lamentations 3:22,23
