Lets give Tanya Cramman the memorial she deserves
On Saturday morning, 30 Jan we were rocked by the horrible news of the untimely passing of Tanya Cramman.
As teammates and friends of her 29-year old son Jonathon, we want to help. Jon and Tanya have touched our lives and touched the lives of so many in their community in North London and in our Baseball community.
Tanya Cramman played a big role in the British Baseball community, which is how we know her. We are part of her "London Mets Baseball Family". She was only 56 years old and we are devastated that she is no longer with us.
Living directly across from our field at Finsbury Park, many years ago her young son Jon made his way over to the diamond, where a local softball team had begun playing. Captivated by the sport, he wanted to join. Tanya spoke to the members of the softball club about setting up a youth baseball programme, which led to the building and founding our youth diamond and coaching many of our early youth teams.
Not only did Tanya play an important role in the founding of our youth programme nearly 20 years ago, but she also coached her son Jonathon and others local boys like Sam Sproule, who went on to play for Great Britain's National Baseball Team. (Both of whom are now GB coaches themselves).
Long after her coaching days ended, she was the club’s biggest fan, who never missed an NBL game. Tanya was at every home game, always welcoming new people to the club with a big hug, pointing out that she only just lived over the road and stepping up whenever anyone needed anything.
Both Jonathon and his fiancé Beth work in the hospitality industry, which has been hard hit by the effects of Covid. To lose Tanya at this time is even more difficult, as their jobs have been affected by social distancing laws. This is our way of helping to ease what is already a challenging time and ensuring that money is not going to stop them from getting through the next few days and honouring Tanya properly.
If you know Jonathon Cramman, you'll know that whether he's on the sidelines at a tournament in Prague, volunteering his time to coach a youth Baseball camp for the underprivileged kids in his own home borough or standing in left field being a teammate to his boys on the Mets, he is the product of all of the years of love, guidance and wisdom that Tanya provided him.
Please help us help him honour her with your donation.
100% of the funds received will go to the beneficiary of this campaign Jonathon Cramman (& his fiancé Beth) to use towards funeral & memorial costs.
