Give the Moon a Hand

January 15th 2023, will make twenty eight years of Brooklyn Moon (click HERE for a look into the past).

What began as a simple coffee shop has grown into a full restaurant, home to open mics, live performances, plays, comedy shows, and a fully curated gallery.

Our chairs have served as a place of connection for many greats Mos Def, Erykah Badu, Saul Williams, and Mums The Schemer to name a few. We would love to continue the sharing of day to day love, but we need your help.

Like many family owned businesses in our industry, the last few years have not been easy.

Multiple closures by New York City during the pandemic, limited outdoor seating caused by the bus lane, a water main rupture that left us closed for for three months, as well as the two break ins suffered, and a doubling in rent coupled with a decrease in business,.. getting back up to speed has been a challenge to say the least.

I had faith that the city I fed for years would feed me back, but unfortunately Brooklyn Moon was not eligible to receive government support via the PPP or SVOG. Every privately funded relief application was also met with a dead end.

Our doors are still open, but to keep them that way we are asking for a hand.
