Give the Voiceless a Voice-Help Us Build Their Safe Haven

Serving the El Paso community since 2017, Law N Paws is a unique animal rescue sanctuary founded by El Paso Police Detective, Vanessa Acosta. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has rescued over 550 victims of severe animal cruelty and neglect throughout the El Paso region.

Recently, we’ve encountered a major obstacle that threatens our mission. Our current landlord is demanding a 500% rent increase. While no agreement has been reached, this proposed hike would make it impossible for us to continue operating in our currently leased space.

With over 150+ rescue animals under our care, we’ve made the difficult but necessary decision to bring our long-time dream of building a permanent sanctuary to life—and we urgently need your help.

Thanks to the generosity of family support, we were able to secure land for what will become the first and only cruelty-case dog sanctuary in West Texas. But now, we’re turning to our community—to you—to help us build it.

We are seeking to raise $500,000 to begin Stage One of development, which includes:

Laying underground utilities and foundation work

Constructing two metal buildings ($116,000 each) to house up to 100 dogs

Installing kennels, fencing, plumbing, and electrical systems

As we prepare for this critical move, we’ve also been burdened by unexpected setbacks. The owner of our current leased property failed to pay the water bill for four months. When we tried to get water connected, the utility company refused—unless we assumed the $2,400 delinquent balance. We had no choice but to pay it to ensure our rescues had access to water.

Then came a leak—on the vacant side of the property we don’t even lease. We paid a plumber, then received another $1,000+ water bill. These are costs that pull directly from the resources we should be using to care for and rehome our animals.

Unlike city-run shelters, we are not funded by the city, state, or government. We survive solely through medical grants and the generosity of compassionate people like you.

Now, we need your help to complete this sanctuary—a permanent, loving home for dogs who have already endured the unimaginable.
