Give Trenton a Lift
Donation protected
Trenton Pierce is a 12 yearold boy who has Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. Duchenne's is a genetic disorder that is characterized by progressive muscle degeneration. Trenton is slowly losing his ability to walk and now needs to be in a wheelchair. The family is in desperate need of an adaptive van to be able to transport Trenton, particularly to doctor appointments in Rochester, NY.
An accessible van is an expensive purchase. While medicaid will pay for a van to be converted, it has to be less than three years old and under 30,000 miles to qualify for a conversion. The minimum cost of a van would be $18,000.00 This family is hard working, but after recently financing an ADA accessible manufactured home so that Trenton can have access, their funds to purchase a van are very limited. In 2017, Trenton's mom Jordan Pierce had to quit her full time job in order to care for Trenton and works odd jobs when her husband can be home with him.
Trenton has ties to the Holiday Valley Ski Community, his grandma Joanie Weichmann was a lift attendant at the Yodeler lift for more than 15 years. It was this connection that inspired the "Give Trenton a Lift" campaign. Skiing is freedom of movement and many of us are fortunate enough to enjoy this amazing sport. We are asking that you consider donating the cost of one lift ticket in Trenton's honor to help him be able to move about his world. While the suggested donation is $78 any amount would be appreciated. Please share with fellow skiers or anyone who would be willing to help the Pierce family "Give Trenton a Lift".
