Give Tyler and I a weekend together of his dreams

Donation protected
Hi everyone! For those that don’t know me my name is Crystal and I am the mom of two boys, Tyler and Carter. On 12/3/21 Carter was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. That diagnosis came with multiple rounds of chemo, a bone marrow transplant (BMT), a relapse, more chemo and a second BMT. Carter is still fighting today. Over the last 18 months I lived at the hospital in Boston with Carter for 14 of them. I missed Tyler every single day and time with him was by far the most difficult sacrifice I had to make. I also had to resign from my job as a high school math teacher in order to care for Carter. Because of the help and support from family and so many friends I have been able to pay our bills so we don’t lose our home, but there isn’t much left for fun at this point.

Tyler recently graduated from 5th grade. When I asked him what he wanted for graduation he said, “time with you, just us.” Since we both love baseball I asked him if he would want to go away for a weekend to Boston and go to a Red Sox game. He got the biggest smile on his face and said, “yes!” He then said, “can we sit on the green monster?” So I of course looked up tickets and my heart sank when I saw the prices. I had to look at him and tell him I couldn’t afford it. Of course he said he understood, but I saw the disappointment in his eyes.

I totally get that disappointment is a part of life and there have been many many times the boys have wanted to do something or get something and I have said no and I haven’t struggled with it. I am struggling with this. Tyler has endured more over the last 18 months than people could ever understand or imagine. He has been the most loving and supportive big brother ever. He has sat by and watched packages upon packages of gifts pour in for Carter and we are all so grateful and he is happy for his brother, but he is still a kid and sometimes has felt forgotten, by me included, which just crushes me.

We are hoping to go away the first weekend in August. We want to stay in Boston on Friday and Saturday to go to some memorials and see a side of Boston other than the Children’s Hospital. We would go to the Red Sox game on Sunday. If you could help make Tyler’s wish of sitting on the green monster a reality it would mean more to both of us than you would ever know. I want to give him time with just me like he asked and I want to make it super special because no one deserves it more than him.

Thank you in advance for any help and support you give in order to make this happen. We love you!!
