Wallis, my 9-year-old bulldog with the spirit of a 2-year-old Labrador, has always been a beacon of joy. Her adventurous, fearless nature and infectious personality make her the life of every room she enters. Wallis thrives on exploring the world around her, meeting new people, and spreading smiles wherever she goes.

But now, Wallis’s world is closing in on her. She’s bravely battled cherry eye for most of her life, but recently, she was diagnosed with dorsal eyelid entropion – a painful condition that’s rapidly deteriorating her vision. The scarring and pigment on her cornea are worsening every day, and without urgent surgery, Wallis faces the heartbreaking reality of losing her sight completely.

The thought of Wallis’s world turning dark is unbearable. Her once fearless nature has been replaced by caution, as she clings to me, too afraid to venture far for fear of getting lost. Watching her world shrink, knowing all she wants is to keep spreading joy, breaks my heart in ways I can’t fully express.

Wallis means everything to me. She’s more than just a pet; she’s my family, my companion, and my source of endless happiness. The idea that she might never again see the smiles she so effortlessly brings to others is devastating.
