Divine Inspirations Inc is a not for profit organization established for the purpose of cultivating wellness, social inclusion, and academic success through providing access to affordable performing arts and mentorship programs for girls that may be at risk, underprivileged, and fighting the childhood obesity epidemic.
We’re requesting donations for the Divine Inspirations' Performing Arts Dance Program, which serves the greater Prince William County, VA and surrounding areas. We are currently providing affordable performing arts education to approximately 40-50 young girls that are at risk and/or reside in low income communities at our facility.
In addition to affordable dance education our program provides mentor services, career and entrepreneurship assistance, tutoring, college prep and scholarships, social activities, group dialog sessions, and informative workshops that enhances economic, social, and self-awareness. Funding would support the program’s expansion to a new 2,000 sq ft. facility and the ability to sponsor additional dance students, procure dance supplies, equipment, software and acquire additional support staff.
Stefanie’s Story:
Meet one of our Divine Dancers Stefanie, she’s a 14 year old rising 10th grader who understands the value of hard work instilled in her by a single mother, immigrant and small business owner. Stefanie is committed to her academics, waking up at 5:30am every school morning to prepare for a 45-minute bus ride to attend the Biotechnology honors program offered outside of her school zone. In spite of many social and economic challenges Stefanie continues to maintain a 4.0 GPA and aspires to be one of the very few minority Neurologist which will also make her a first generation college graduate.
Stefanie joined Divine Inspirations Performing Arts Program in the summer of 2017 with the familiar desire of wanting more out of life than just the typical day to day routine of waking, going to school, and returning home to repeat it all again the next day. Realizing from a fellow peer that our program could offer her access to quality but affordable performing arts; she jumped to the opportunity and never looked back.
However, Stefanie did not expect the physical or mental demands that it would take to be a committed performing art student. Statistically, at the point of joining our program, Stefanie was considered to be battling with childhood obesity and at immediate health risks of High blood pressure and high cholesterol, which are risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Nevertheless, she was determined to push through, never giving up during the strenuous training regimen and she took advantage of every mentorship opportunity developing leadership skills while building self-esteem for personal growth. This can do mindset has contributed to the many wins, successes, and accomplishments of our performing arts program but most of all her own successes in life and in health.
Many of her accomplishments is attributed to our dedicated Staff, Mentors, and our Director of Programs whom she refers to as her second mom. Some of Stefanie's accomplishments include being awarded with Student of the Year, Social Studies Student of the Year, becoming a contestant in the National Geography Bee and Geography Olympiad and recently, was chosen to represent Divine Inspirations on the syndicated network NBC 4 where she was interviewed by Award Winning Journalist Mr. Leon Harris on a special Christmas segment of News NBC4 “Harris Hero’s”.
We are so proud of Stefanie's growth and Divine Inspirations will be there along her journey of accomplishing all of her dreams and aspirations! Stefanie is a representation of the 40-50 young girls that we impact daily but with your support we can impact hundreds even thousands more!
Give the gift of the arts to a deserving young girl today!
