Here's a breakdown of the required funds:
1. Chemotherapy - 20,000 PhP (Multiple sessions)
2. Stem Cell Treatment - 2,000,000 PhP (As quoted by the specialist)
3. Medications
Your generous donations will play a crucial role in giving Daryl a fighting chance to defeat this disease. Every contribution, no matter how small, will contribute to extending his life. If you have any other means or resources to help Daryl on his journey, please do not hesitate to reach out. Together, we can make a significant impact in Daryl's fight for survival.
I will share regular updates here through photos, posting them as soon as I receive them from the family.
Here is the message from Daryl's mother.
"We're a family of four, with dreams of a simple and happy life. My husband and I aspired to provide a better life for our children, and step by step, we worked towards that dream. My family became my sanctuary, a feeling I had never experienced before. I had never felt accepted or loved, but God granted me the opportunity to finally have a family to call my own.
Despite the trials we've faced, the storm that hit us recently was the most challenging. Our youngest son, Daryl, a brave and sweet 7-year-old, was diagnosed with leukemia on August 24, 2023. We questioned ourselves as parents, wondering if we had done everything right. We were devastated and heartbroken by this unexpected turn of events. Daryl was so young, with so much potential, but this news completely altered the course of our lives. He now tires easily, and we handle him delicately, as if he were fragile glass. I often find myself waking up at night, just to check if he's breathing okay. I sometimes wish it were all just a nightmare, but I have faith in God's plan, and we will face this battle head-on as Daryl's parents.
On August 30, the doctor advised us to have Daryl tested in Quezon City, Manila, to determine the specific type of leukemia he has. Desperation drove us to do everything in our power to save our son. Witnessing my little boy undergo countless lab tests, take strong medications, and lose the carefree life he once had is excruciating. As a mother, seeing him endure this pain feels like a million needles piercing my heart. It's agonizing, but as a family, we hold onto each other tightly, praying that we will weather this storm together.
After returning from Manila, we immediately began Daryl's chemotherapy sessions at Perpetual Succour Hospital. I know this journey is far from easy for him, but my little warrior never ceases to amaze us with his bravery. We heard Daryl utter these heartfelt words, "I want to live, Ma." He flashes his cutest smile and reassures us that he'll be okay. Recently, we received the results from Manila, and our hearts sank once again. Daryl has Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), a rare type with lower survival rates than the typical ALL. All we want is to see our little boy return to the happy kid he was before.
Today, we humbly reach out to you, seeking assistance to fund Daryl's ongoing chemotherapy sessions and his future stem cell bone marrow transplant. Rest assured, all proceeds will go directly toward Daryl's treatment and transplant. Your support means the world to us as we strive to give Daryl a fighting chance."
