Giving back to "Grandma Patty" Voldbaek
Donation protected
For years she has been known around town as "Grandma" Patty Voldbaek. As one neighbor recently said so well, "You're everybody's Grandma, Patty!" She brings positivity, delicious baked treats and handmade items to her entire community. And now it's our turn to uplift Patty and give her back some of the positive energy she has shared with us all.
In July, Patty was diagnosed with end-stage emphysema. This means she has to always be on oxygen. She is still working part-time and doing respiratory therapy. She loves her independence and likes to do her own shopping and enjoys going out to eat with family and friends.
She currently has a heavy and bulky "portable" 9lb oxygen tank system that she must carry with her when she is out and about. This setup leaves her bruised and not as mobile as she would like. She has to lug it in and out of the car everywhere she goes.
She is on the waitlist at Providence Home Oxygen, but there is an estimated 12-month wait period. Patty needs to upgrade to an oxygen concentrator that is smaller (half the weight of her current one) and more powerful, with a cost of around $3,000 with all necessary accessories to travel. She and her family have tried to find a less expensive alternative. Her son-in-law found a Pro 4 model and her daughter purchased parts to get it to work properly to no avail. She needs a Pro 5 portable concentrator as it goes up to 6 outflow and Pro 4 only goes to 3. She is already at an outflow of 2-3.
This new system will allow her to continue working, going to respiratory therapy and spending quality time with family and friends. Any donations will be gratefully received and will allow "Grandma" Patty to continue her work uplifting the Sherwood/Wilsonville community she has lived in for 20 years.
