Giving back to support Dan Miller

Donation protected
After 40 years making connections across the bar at the Carlisle Gingerbread Man, our friend Dan needs our help. Dan Miller was a world class bartender and a fixture at the Gingerbread Man in Carlisle, Pa. for the better part of forty years. For decades, he's poured the best screwdrivers (Dan drivers), iced teas, white russians and other perfect but strong concoctions. With a flawless memory, he never failed to make his customers, (many of whom returned to the Carlisle Gman from all over the country) feel at home. Unfortunately, in April 2019, Dan suffered severe symptoms from the flu. Unable to keep food or water down, he also went into sudden detox from alcohol, which can often be life threatening without medical treatment. After 5 days mostly unconcious in the Hospital ICU he returned back home. The good news is he has recovered and has maintained his sobriety since his discharge and attends AA meetings regularly. Unfortunately he has not been able to find suitable work due to his physical condition, his commitment to his sobriety, and his need to find a suitable alcohol free workplace. He will be eligible to receive social security benefits in November 2020 at age 62. He currently needs assistance with rent, utilities, food, and basic needs such as groceries and clothing for the next twelve months. Said expenses would be about $1200-$1500 a month. He has no savings. Dan has given so much to the Carlisle community. Please consider giving back to Dan, so that he can continue to maintain a sober, dignified lifestyle as he transitions into a healthy alcohol free retirement.
