Covid Sucks and Brain Tumors do too!

"Giving is not about donating, its about caring and making a difference."
Life has a way of punching you in the gut when you least expect it and 2020 has been one really messed up year for many!
My 4 yr old grandson, Jaxon, started having headaches a couple of weeks ago. At first they thought it may be a sinus infection, but after waking up crying from the pain, he was taken to ER where a CT Scan showed a 6cm mass at the back of his head. It was compressing a large section of his brain causing fluid to fill up in the ventricles (Hydrocephalus). He was transported to the children's hospital where he went into surgery immediately upon arriving.
Prayers were answered. They were able to remove the entire mass and the pathology report we just received stated it was benign. Even with this incredible news, now comes the stress of recovery, worrying about what the future brings, and financial strain from missing work while he was in the hospital and for several weeks while he recovers, plus all of the future appointments. Jaxon will need to be monitored closely for the next few years. He will need several MRI's each year to confirm the tumor is not growing back which could result in additional surgery or radiation. His next MRI will determine if the fluids are draining successfully or if they will need to put a shunt in. Because of the large size of the tumor and not knowing how long it took to grow to that size, there may be some long term damage. What the future brings is unknown and each MRI will give us more answers.
Jaxon's daddy is self-employed so every day off of work is a huge impact financially. My daughter works in health care but will need to take considerable time off to care for Jaxon while he recovers. The hospital stay, insurance co-payments, medicines, trips back to the city for doctors appointments, specialists, etc all add up and with the additional loss of income, the situation becomes even more stressful and overwhelming. Insurance covers some, but not everything, especially the time lost at work.
I have started this gofundme for my grandson, Jaxon, and his family. As a mother and grandmother, it is extremely hard to see your children and grandchildren go through pain whether physical, emotional or even financial.
The amount of the fundraiser is not large to some but it is to some of us when finances are tight. If you can find it within your heart to help, we greatly appreciate it.
