Giving Mack "Handsome" What He Needs
Donation protected
This is our friend, Mack- known as “Handsome” by his family and friends. He is 11 years old- always happy, loves water toys, his siblings and all music (his favorite is “Boo’d Up” by Ella Mai). Mack had a twin who didn’t make it- but he has blessed the lives of his family and anyone who has the privilege to know and love him. Mack understands and comprehends everything, but is unable to verbally communicate back. But trust me- if he has something he wants- he has a way of letting you know.
Mack has an incredible amount of supportive and loving family who help as much as they can in every aspect of Mack’s daily life. Mack requires a specialized wheelchair- which after a lot of fighting- was finally provided to him to get around. The wheelchair is cumbersome and too large for a regular van or vehicle, so his family is required to keep the wheelchair at school. As Mack continues to grow and get bigger and heavier, it is becoming more and more difficult for his family to walk to the bus, lift and carry him inside, and move him around the house. This also leaves them unable to travel outside of the home for fun, interactive family activities, or to his frequent medical appointments (60 -120 miles roundtrip) without having to rent a vehicle to do so.
Mack and his family need a van with a lift so that they can enjoy the very same outings we are able to with our children, cousins, grandparents, and friends. He needs an interactive program that will allow him to communicate verbally exactly what he is thinking, feeling and wanting. Daybreak Canyon will match dollar for dollar any contribution made to this humble, amazing and very deserving family. We know them personally. We have spent time with them. They are united, supportive, kind and remain optimistic despite the obstacles that continue to get in their way. I have attached a video of Mack dancing with is mother at the park- not sure if you can see his face, but it is pure, unfiltered joy. We want Mack and his family to have more of these experiences and more opportunities to be together and communicate with each other.
If there is anything you can do to help- donate anything you may be able to, re-post this to others who may be able to, or send some prayers and positive thoughts our way as we work to enrich the lives of Mack and his family. Thank you in advance for your support.
