Giving my Grandkids a home

Hi my name Colleen & I’m a 53 year old grandma who has take in 4 of her Grandchildren. In January 2024 my daughter asked me if I could take care of children while she gets help for her health and drug addiction. I didn’t hesitate.at all & said yes even though I was living in a one bedroom trailer. Now also at that same time my daughter was pregnant with her four child and her due date was April. But due to my daughter’s health she went into early labour and gave birth on January 20, 2024 to my granddaughter four days after I took in her other 3 children. On the 21st of January I also took on the care of my preemie granddaughter. While she was in the hospital I was still trying to figure out where to live, cause we all couldn’t live in my trailer. Lucky we got help from an organization that helps First Nations kids and in February they but us in a hotel. At the same time my grandchildren had just lost their dad to a drug overdose. They were going through a lot. Leaving a home, not being with their parents, losing a dad, starting a new school and now living in a different hotel every month. We are still living in hotels sometimes our own source of food is microwave or fast food unless we get a hotel with a stovetop which only happened twice. I just want to give them something to call home and where they can have their own room and better meals to eat.

I don’t like asking for help but I need help.

I’m asking for help so I can get proper hydro, running water and add a couple more rooms added to my trailer. It’s hard living in hotels and unfortunately we will be spending Christmas in a hotel. With all this happening my doctor as put me on short term disability to my own personal health so I’m now off work until march. Please help a grandma who loves her grandchildren with all her heart. Kids ages are 12, 11, 3, & 10 month old
