Giving Reggie the Chance He Gave Me

Hello, I am reaching out to you today on behalf of my best friend, Reggie, a 7-year-old AmStaff mix with a heart bigger than his bark. Reggie is not just a dog; he is a beacon of love, strength, and resilience that has been lighting up my life since I rescued him from Muddy Paws Rescue five years ago.

During a dark period of personal struggle with my mental health, Reggie was my lifeline. His cheerful demeanor, tireless energy, and unwavering loyalty helped me navigate through some of the most challenging times of my life. I can say with confidence that Reggie saved me. He has transformed my perception and the perceptions of many around me, such as my mother and my now wife, about his often misunderstood breed.

Reggie is my daily reminder that love and kindness can turn the tide. And now, it's my turn to stand by him in his fight, the fight against cancer.

A year ago, we were hit with the terrifying news that a cyst removed from Reggie's ear was a melanoma. The good news was that the vets believed they had managed to remove all of it. However, during a routine checkup recently, we discovered that the cancer has metastasized to his lungs, presenting itself as small nodules. We were completely blindsided, going from the relief of assuming we were in the clear, to the devastating reality that Reggie's life is under threat once more.

His oncologist has given us a prognosis; without treatment, we may lose Reggie in four months. But with treatment, he could continue to live happily, healthily, and comfortably for over a year or possibly more. Thankfully, Reggie is currently symptom-free, and we aim to keep him that way for as long as possible. This is why we have begun a regimen of chemotherapy and a melanoma vaccine for Reggie. However, this treatment is expensive, and the longer Reggie lives, the more costly his care becomes. But every day we can give Reggie is priceless.

This is where we humbly ask for your support. We are raising funds to cover the costs of Reggie's treatments and his ongoing care. Every dollar raised will go directly towards ensuring Reggie's comfort and fighting off his illness, helping us give him a bucket-list year full of love, joy, and endless belly rubs. This is the least we can do for a dog that has brought immeasurable happiness into our lives and has literally saved mine.

By donating, sharing this fundraiser with your networks, or sending well wishes, you'll be contributing to Reggie's fight against cancer and allowing us to enjoy more precious moments with our beloved dog.

Your support means the world to us and to Reggie. Let's give him the chance to keep changing minds, keep wagging his tail, and most importantly, to keep being the loving dog he is.

Thank you.
